The TEC Collective Story
TEC Collective was founded in 2015 in Brisbane as a result of Dani repeatedly leaving her garage door open when she went to work. Wanting to be able to monitor and control this remotely from her phone, she went about finding a solution and quickly realised the power of the Internet of Things (IoT).
The company became a specialist in IoT and Smart Cities, working with many local councils across Queensland to change the way residents live and work through the use of smart technologies. Many of our clients received awards and accolades for the projects, and the company grew across Australia.
In 2017 the Sydney office opened and the service offering expanded to included software development and systems integration. Shona came along with it and spent the next few years focusing on our general ICT and cyber security offerings to provide a more robust technical capability to service the quickly growing industry. (Although we mostly think she just wanted more time to play with the cool cyber toys.)
The Melbourne office opened its doors in mid 2019, with an official company rebranding to what is now known as Cyqiq, the smart cities and system integration side of the business.
Early 2020 saw the addition of our Perth office, and the incorporation of Zenvito and Ion Cyber, our managed services and cyber security companies respectively. TEC Collective then became the parent company to the three unique capabilities, with each one servicing a range of customers in varying industries, but with the same desire to help and solve problems as we had on day one.
Update: 8 years on and Dani still regularly forgets to shut the garage door, and Shona is still obsessed with having the coolest cyber toys in the sandbox.
